Wairaurahiri River
Lake Hauroko is the deepest lake in New Zealand and is drained by the Wairaurahiri River, which falls 200meters to sea level and is 27 kilometres of grade 3 white water rapids.

Tuatapere Motel, Shooters Backpackers and Holiday Park is the closest accommodation to the Hump Ridge Track - a 43km circuit that starts and finishes at the western end of Te Waiwai Bay.

Day One:

Transport to Bluecliffs Beach, Te Waewae Bay and tramp along the South Coast Track to Port Craig Village
- 17 kms - Track 6-7 Hrs or Low Tide Beach 5-6 Hrs.
- Accomodation at Historic Schoolhouse.
Day Two:
Follow the track along a historical logging tramway to the Wairaurahiri River. Crossing the Sandhill Viaduct and the Huge Percy Burn Viaduct. Then onto the Edwin and Francis Burn Viaducts.
- 13 Kms - 4 -5 Hrs
Meet up with the Jet Boat for a 2 Hrs of solid thrills of Grade 3 rapids. You will travel the full length of the Wairaurahiri River and across Lake Hauroko where transport will return you to your Accomodation.
